The role
The G-Research Storage Engineering team manages our high performance scalable storage and storage team are 12 engineers in London, managing 200 petabytes of high performance scalable storage. We are responsible for the design, deployment and operation of this storage platform, which supports the research workloads of our Researchers, and is therefore a core component of infrastructure.
Managing a 24x7 platform across time zones is challenging and we are excited to now be able to hire into our Dallas office where we are looking to expand our storage team to work alongside our UK team daily.
Working alongside our UK team, you will optimize and troubleshoot workflows alongside our Researchers and Software Engineers, Our involvement extends to optimization and troubleshooting of workflows, working with Researchers and Software Engineers daily, as well as our Networks team and external vendors, including DELL, VAST, HPE and, RUBRIK.
Managing a 24x7 platform across time zones is challenging and we are excited to now be able to hire into our Dallas office. We are looking to form a fledging storage team with whom we work daily.
A typical day will start with a check-in with the team, planning the handover of any maintenance activities later that day. Through the UK's afternoon, you would will share the operational workload (typically user queries and provisioning requests), then as the UK staff roll off, take responsibility for monitoring, onsite vendor engineers and handling any problems that are observed or reported, escalating when needed.
For candidates with particularly strong coding skills, you will have the opportunity to work through a there is also a backlog of development work (automation and reporting), which that our DevOps sub-team are eager to share with you.

Some proficiency in Python
A keen interest in GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principales, such as (e.g. Ansible, Jenkins, and Kubernetes)
