ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Confers with computer professionals, vendors and manufacturer’s technicians to coordinate, upgrade, install, maintain, effectively integrate and resolve problems or errors.
- Completes configuration, installation and support of equipment in a primarily Microsoft Windows environment to the specifications of client proposals.
- Troubleshoots server and storage hardware.
- Provides both on-site and remote support.
- Provides Tier III Service Desk ticket support.
- Maintains software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance.
- Responds to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.
- Monitors and maintains system and server related network.
- Completes time logs in work order system.
- Troubleshoots and resolves computer and telephony related issues.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.
- One (1) year of server, internet, systems engineer or systems administration experience in a client/server environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. • Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Must be certified as a Certified: Systems Engineer or Systems Administration or obtain within one year of employment.
- Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
- Must be on 24-hour call.
- Must work a varied schedule.
- Must provide one's own source of transportation.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the business needs of Louisville Metro Government.
