Laboratory Instrumentation Specialist (Tecan)

The Laboratory Instrumentation Specialist, QC – Laboratory Instrumentation is responsible for the operation, maintenance, data capture and troubleshooting of Tecan laboratory equipment used to perform HPLC, gas chromatography, spectrometry, Osmolality, pH, laboratory automation, customized automated sample handling.
Duties/Responsibilities/Scope of Work:
Our client is looking for someone to support the QC laboratory and diagnose problems with laboratory equipment when it comes to cleaning, replacement of worn parts, repairs, etc. They should be able to make scientific recommendations to management and other departments regarding new laboratory instrumentation purchases, implementation, documentation and data capture. This person should have the skills to work on instruments with more complex processes such as GC & HLPC on the Tecan Instrumentation. Their primary duties will include:
- Acts as a single point of contact for resolving QC laboratory instrument related issues.
- Investigates equipment related issues and helps facilitate and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Supports and actively contributes to validation efforts related to QC instrumentation and associated computerized systems.
- Project management of new instrument procurement and onboarding.
- Drafts, reviews, and approves documentation related to laboratory instrumentation operation and maintenance. Generates and maintains documentation consistent with cGMP and GDP, including electronic document systems.
- Identifies out of trend or atypical instrument results and supports initiated/on-going investigations; Collects and helps with analysis of QC department instrument metrics.
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for QC department laboratory instrumentation, its associated documentation, and generated data for internal and external audits.
- Takes initiative to identify opportunities for automation, contributes to scoping, method development, optimization, and troubleshooting of automation applications.
- Assists upper-level management in new endeavors including efficiency efforts, organizational tasks, and non-routine activities that require a higher level of scientific skills and regulatory expertise.
- Interacts collaboratively and communicates effectively with QC department laboratory managers, analysts, and other site departments (i.e., industrialization, R & D, Engineering) to provide equipment training and troubleshoot equipment issues.
Required:
- Bachelor’s of Microbiology, Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Medical Device/Diagnostic Experience 5+ years
- Experience troubleshooting Tecan laboratory equipment
- Experience with laboratory automation
