The annual base salary range for this position in California is $116,000 to $145,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
The Cloud Systems Engineer works closely with other team members to ensure that Microsoft 365 services and its supporting platforms provide maximum benefit to our organization. The job holder will administer virtual/physical servers, user account and provide a supporting role to other teams in OCVIBE and our other entities. This role plays a crucial role in managing the company’s computer systems and networks. The Cloud Systems Engineer’s responsibilities span from designing system architecture to ensuring smooth operations.
Responsibilities
Systems Administration
- Develop and implement system infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives
- Design and validate innovative solutions aligned with business needs and industry best practices
- Deploy and configure hardware, software, and network components for project initiatives
- Integrate new solutions into the existing IT environment while minimizing disruptions and risks
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner
Cloud Administration
- Analyze and resolve configuration issues in development, test, and production environments
- Work with Data Scientist to automate and secure workstreams
- Collaborate with business teams to integrate cloud services into software applications
- Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, procedures, and training materials
- Understanding of Azure Database technologies (both IaaS and PaaS) and be able support, secure and administer databases
- Understanding of Subscriptions, Resource Groups, Availability zone, Azure Networking and Azure Bastion topology
Technical Documentation
- Create detailed technical documentation, including system diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, changes, and outcomes
- Provide clear documentation for end-users and support teams to ensure proper system usage and troubleshooting
- Security and Compliance
- Implement security measures and best practices to safeguard project assets and data
- Ensure project solutions adhere to industry compliance standards and regulations
Skills
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field proven experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role
- Experience with applications such as InTune, Tanium, Entra Permissions Management, Cohesity a plus
- Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages a is a must
- Experience with VMware VCenter and ESXi virtualization environments
- Must have at least 2+ years’ experience administering M365 and on-Prem AD including: (1) Planning, deployment, and management of Microsoft 365 E3/E5 platforms and technologies, (2) Azure, Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, (3) Microsoft Exchange & associated Mail hygiene services
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, hardware, and software
- Working knowledge of HPE Server hardware, SAN storage and ILO management systems
- Working knowledge of system backup concepts
- Excellent knowledge of enterprise level storage concepts
- Familiarity with IT security protocols and compliance standards
- Proficient in Azure networking
- Understanding of IP subnetting, DHCP and DNS
- Microsoft and HPE Certifications a plus
- Good people skills and willingness to assist others
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
