Key Responsibilities:
Project Management and Technology Introduction:
- Lead Research and Technology Projects: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of research projects and new technology introductions, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet high standards of quality and innovation.
- Evaluate Methodologies and Outcomes: Review and approve research methodologies and technology assessments, ensuring they align with the organization’s technical and operational goals.
- Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of resources, including funding, personnel, and advanced equipment, to support the successful execution of projects and the integration of new technologies.
Strategic Planning and Direction:
- Contribute to Research and Technology Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing strategies for research and new technology introduction that align with the organization’s industrial tech objectives.
- Identify Emerging Industrial Trends: Stay informed of emerging trends, innovations, and challenges within the industrial tech space, contributing insights to refine the research and technology agenda.
- Set Priorities for Technology Introduction: Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize research projects and technology introductions that drive the organization’s long-term vision and competitiveness in the market.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and Mentor Team: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of researchers and technologists, fostering their professional growth and development in the industrial tech sector.
- Talent Development: Assist in recruiting, training, and retaining top talent, building a strong team capable of executing the organization’s research and technology strategies effectively.
- Foster Innovation and Collaboration: Encourage a culture of innovation, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with Other Departments: Work closely with engineering, product development, operations, and marketing teams to ensure research and technology initiatives are aligned with broader organizational goals and industrial tech requirements.
- External Partnerships: Collaborate with external partners, including industrial research institutions, technology providers, and industry consortia, to enhance research capabilities and stay at the forefront of technological advancements.
- Represent the Organization: Participate in industry conferences, networks, and meetings to build the organization’s reputation as a leader in industrial research and technology innovation.
Budget and Resource Management:
- Manage Research and Technology Budgets: Oversee budgets for research projects and new technology introductions, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support strategic priorities.
- Secure Funding: Assist in securing external funding through grants, partnerships, or other sources to support ongoing and future research and technology initiatives.
- Evaluate ROI: Monitor and assess the return on investment (ROI) of research projects and technology introductions, ensuring they provide tangible value to the organization.
Communication and Reporting:
- Report on Research and Technology Progress: Communicate progress and findings related to research projects and new technology introductions to senior management, stakeholders, and, where applicable, the public or regulatory bodies.
- Prepare Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and publications that document the research process, technology evaluations, and outcomes.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all research and technology activities are conducted ethically and comply with relevant industrial standards, regulations, and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Applied Sciences, or a related field is required.
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field is highly preferred.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in research and development, technology management, or a related field within the industrial tech sector.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience managing research teams and technology projects.
- Proven track record of successfully leading research initiatives and introducing new technologies in an industrial setting.
