Job Description:
Position Overview: The Commercial Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. The Commercial Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that estimates are accurate and align with project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Review and analyze commercial project plans, specifications, and other documentation to create detailed cost estimates.
· Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to gather necessary information for estimating.
· Prepare detailed take-offs and estimates for all aspects of commercial construction, including labor, materials, and equipment.
· Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop cost-effective solutions and strategies for project bids.
· Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring all information is accurate and comprehensive.
· Prepare bid proposals and participate in the bidding process.
· Track and report on current material and labor pricing, adjusting estimates as necessary.
· Assist in the development and implementation of cost control strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
· Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather essential information for accurate estimates.
· Keep up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in commercial estimating within the construction industry.
· Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, and methods.
· Proficient in estimating software and tools (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift).
· Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Strong organizational and time management skills
