Electrical Project Engineer- Qualified candidates will have a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and two years of experience in the electrical Industry. Manage design and construction projects while working with field contractors, engineers, electricians, and vendors. Projects include planned railroad development, rail yard power distribution and area lighting. Must have the ability to travel up to 25% per month to gather information for projects, conduct meetings, and oversee projects Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Work under the direction of Manager of Electrical Design to Manage electrical projects from Scoping and Estimating, through Design and Construction.
- Work with a team of electrical engineers and designers to complete all tasks required for project completion.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates for proposed projects based on a general description of the work and an investigation of site conditions using standardized unit construction costs. Prepare preliminary design sketches and Scope of Work descriptions for the proposed project.
- Manage the design of low voltage (under 600 V) electrical systems that are compliant with the National Electric Code (NEC) and all state and local codes. Low voltage projects include, power distribution, backup generators, Outdoor lighting, etc.
- Manage the design of overhead and underground medium voltage (up to 15KV) electrical distribution systems that are compliant with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and all state and local codes.
- Review consultant designed electrical projects and prepare comments on the proposed designs
- Manage railroad construction projects by coordinating contractors, railroad personnel, utility systems, and other parties. Conduct on site bid and pre-construction meetings. Monitor construction quality and progress and prepare reports for management.
- Travel to gather field information and conduct or attend meetings on projects
