Senior Compliance Engineer – Competitive Salary – Wood Dale, Illinois
The Role

We are a leading provider of commercial contracting and design build services, looking to appoint a Principal Regulatory Compliance Engineer.
Your primary role will be to spearhead safety approval programs across various product categories including mechanical, electromechanical, gas, electronic, and water systems. You will oversee compliance with certifying bodies' requirements, ensuring our products not only meet but exceed industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze product specifications and market requirements to identify applicable regulatory standards and norms.
- Select appropriate testing agencies (e.g., UL, CSA, VDE, TUV, BSi) and understand their certification needs as dictated by safety standards and marketing requirements.
- Collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, and design teams to ensure all stages of product development adhere to certification requirements.
- Maintain and manage a database of all relevant standards, codes, and product certifications.
- Build and maintain relationships with certification agency personnel to facilitate timely and effective information exchange for project teams.
- Support the development of in-house certification testing programs and maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Ensure all necessary documentation and procedures are updated and in place at manufacturing sites.

- Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting agency regulations (UL, CSA, IEC, NSF, etc.) and product safety standards (e.g. ANSI, ASTM, NEMA, etc.) Project management and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering or project-related role.
Preferred Experience
- Harmonized 60730, UL429, UL 991 or 8588, 7489.
