The CMMS Planner is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and execution of all preventive maintenance activities in a manufacturing facility using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and longevity of manufacturing equipment and infrastructure, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.
- Key Responsibilities:CMMS Management:
- Manage and maintain the CMMS, ensuring all preventive maintenance tasks are accurately scheduled, tracked and updated.
- Input and update data within the CMMS, including equipment information, maintenance schedules, work orders, and inventory records.
- Generate and analyze CMMS reports to monitor maintenance activities and identify areas for improvement.
- Preventative Maintenance Planning:
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans tailored to the specific needs of a food ingredients manufacturing facility.
- Work with the plant operations team to schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production processes.
- Regularly review and update preventive maintenance procedures and schedules to ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency.
- Work Order Management:
- Create, assign, and close work orders in the CMMS.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency and operational needs.
- Track and report on work order completion rates and maintenance performance metrics.
- Inventory and Spare Parts Management:
- Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability for preventive maintenance tasks.
- Complete annual audits of all parts through an inventory program
- Order new parts to ensure proper parts level is maintained
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians, supervisors, and other departments to ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance tasks.
- Communicate maintenance schedules and any changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide training and support to maintenance staff on the use of the CMMS.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving preventive maintenance processes and practices.
- Implement industry best practices and standards in preventive maintenance.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with maintenance standards and procedures.
- Conduct PM audits on all PM’s annually to ensure that the task details are addressing the needs.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all preventive maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities for regulatory compliance and audits.
- Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a technical field or related discipline preferred.
- Extensive experience in maintenance planning & PM coordination – specifically using CMMS, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience in a food processing or food ingredients manufacturing facility being a plus.
- Experience with CMMS software is a plus.
- Certifications:
- Certification in maintenance management or a related field (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional, CMRP) is preferred.
- Work Environment:This position operates within a manufacturing facility, but will primarily be a desk/office role developing and tracking the PM program through the CMMS system. Monday through Friday will be the preferred shift, but some weekends and nights will be required for proper training and audits
