The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the on-site management of construction projects. This includes coordinating all site activities, managing subcontractors and labor, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and delivering the project to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Scheduling
WMS has an immediate opening for a Superintendent for a Pump Station project in the Norfolk, Virginia area. Must have prior experience in mechanical work, particuarly Pump Stations. Prior work with HRSD a plus!
Develop and implement project schedules.
Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in project scope or unforeseen delays.
On-Site Management
Oversee daily operations on the construction site.
Manage and supervise all construction activities, including labor, subcontractors, and equipment.
Ensure that work is performed according to the project's specifications and plans.
Quality Control
Monitor the quality of work performed by subcontractors and laborers.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
Address any quality issues promptly and effectively.
Safety Management
Implement and enforce safety protocols on the construction site.
Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Coordination and Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact between the construction site and project stakeholders.
Facilitate communication among architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
Prepare and present progress reports to project managers and clients.
Resource Management
Manage the procurement and delivery of construction materials.
Oversee the maintenance and utilization of construction equipment.
Control project costs by managing labor and material usage efficiently.
Problem Solving
Identify and resolve issues that may arise during construction.
Make decisions in a timely and effective manner to keep the project on track.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
Certifications: OSHA certification and other relevant certifications are advantageous.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in construction management software and MS Office Suite.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks.

Work Environment
