Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Employment Type: 3 to 6 Month Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $50 to $62 per hour DOE
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. This contract-to-hire position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for mechanical engineering in the facilities sector. As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our clients’ manufacturing processes by designing and overseeing complex mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with client owners in a dynamic environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents for complex manufacturing tools.
- Design and oversee piping and ducting for equipment heating, cooling, exhaust, and process chemicals and gases in industrial facilities.
- Retrofit existing building systems to accommodate tool installation, including engineering calculations, equipment and component sizing, selection, and specification.
- Support construction and integration into the factory.
- Work directly with client design staff, client equipment owners, and equipment manufacturers to build utility requirement documents for installation design packages.
- Provide technical training, quality check designs, and assist with complex portions of the design process.
- May have PE stamping responsibility for designs.
- Interact with clients and contractors to assist with construction on site.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET Accredited University.
- Six (6) years of practical application of mechanical facilities engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California or ability to obtain within 3 months (active NCEES record).
- Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess:
- Two (2) years of experience working with complex semiconductor fabrication facilities and manufacturing tools in cleanrooms.
- Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices and contribute innovative ideas.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and broaden knowledge base.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in multi-discipline design teams.
- Passion for buildings and construction.
- Two (2) years of field experience on an active industrial site.
- Other Requirements:
- This is a hybrid position requiring work to be performed from home (~40%) and on the client site in San Jose, CA (~60%) as necessary.
- Candidate must be within commuting distance and willing to commute to the site as necessary. Client will not reimburse travel expenses for this position. Relocation assistance may be provided.
- Position requires visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, and lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Applicant must complete a background check and drug screen and be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States. Client will not sponsor or continue a visa for this position.
