MDC has more than 65 outside sales representatives, as well as additional sales support, reporting to four regional offices. The company’s sales efforts extend further through a worldwide distribution network. A staff of approximately 70 associates are in MDC’s corporate headquarters.
Job Summary: The Design Solutions Acoustics Project Coordinator works in a fast-paced environment which involves coordinating projects with outside sales team, reviewing pricing, product sampling and providing technical product information for high volume specialty acoustics productions.
The Acoustics Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of custom acoustics projects playing a key role in managing a project once it becomes an order by working closely with other team members to ensure that the project stays on track from order entry through project completion. This includes collaborating with the Acoustics Project Estimator, managing the customer’s requirements, communicating with key parties such as MDC Sales Reps, customers, and vendors, reviewing Workshop Drawings, gathering PO & payments, and keeping the project on track through final production and shipping.
Background knowledge in architectural design, drafting, CAD and is preferred as our department is involved with the development of custom projects offered over a wide variety of acoustic products. Each job that passes through MDC’s Design Solutions Department is unique and completely custom. Being able to effectively communicate and evolve creative concepts throughout the life of a project is a key resource for a positive customer experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret architectural drawings. Specifically, Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCP), Elevations, Fixture Schedules, job specifications etc.
- Make effective decisions when presented with obstacles during a project to successfully bring a project to completion
- Communicate with multiple departments keeping projects on time and within budgetary constraints. This includes customers, sales team, suppliers, and supervisors. Work with the project team to develop cost-saving measures if Value Engineered (VE) options are required
- Communicate with the Sales Rep and/or customer throughout the progress of the project and identify and overcome potential roadblocks to avoid project hiccups
- Ensure that the project order meets the client’s requirements and work through any adjustments to the final budget for approvals, production and shipping.
- Effectively use analytical and problem-solving skills to help manage any concerns that may arise during the project.
- Monitor and track project progress via Trello and through other company procedures
- Time Management skills and familiarity with working in a fast-paced environment for high volume quote requests with tight turnaround timeframes and prioritize workloads using input from outside and inside influences with a sense of urgency
- Ability to be cross trained in Acoustics Project Estimator role to support team when needed
- Customer focused with a vision of continuously improving the customer experience
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in project management and/or estimating
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in project management, design, architecture, or related field recommended
- Strong math skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and strong organizational skills. Must be able to juggle multiple projects at any given time
- Strong problem-solving skills being able to identify and solve problems that may arise during the project. Must be able to think critically and remain solution oriented to meet project goals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and other Project Management tools such as Trello and Google Sheets
- Knowledgeable in current version of AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam and other design software a plus
- Strong understanding of design principles including interior design in relation to wallcovering products and capabilities of supporting alternatives to customers for a variety of design/architectural solutions
- Knowledge of Acoustic performance in a workspace a plus
- Experience working with an Architectural Design firm a plus
