Plant Manager

Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in a management role within a manufacturing facility - preferably food manufacturing
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Proven experience in implementing and enforcing safety systems, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and policies
- Extensive experience in managing food quality systems, with a deep understanding of GMP rules and policies
- Strong grasp of manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering principles, with demonstrated practical application
- Solid experience in budgeting and expense management, with a working knowledge of financial and accounting practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), with the ability to create and analyze spreadsheets
Plus:
- Hands-on experience with continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or Transactional Lean, is highly desirable
- Familiarity with modern enterprise systems like SAP or JD Edwards is a plus.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the leadership of the Director of Operations, the Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing plant, ensuring the production of high-quality products in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This role is crucial for driving operational excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and meeting company goals related to productivity, profitability, and employee engagement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and manages all aspects of plant operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and sanitation, to ensure the timely and efficient production of products.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and develops a high-performing team of supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develops, manages, and executes the plant’s annual budget. Monitor expenditures to ensure costs are kept within approved limits while achieving production and quality targets.
- Ensures the plant operates in compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Promote a culture of safety and take proactive measures to reduce workplace hazards.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles to drive efficiency.
- Oversees the upkeep and maintenance of the physical plant and equipment. Manage capital improvement projects to support the plant’s operational needs and long-term growth.
- Works closely with the production team, supply chain, quality assurance, and other departments to align plant operations with overall business objectives. Collaborate on projects that impact production, such as new product introductions or equipment upgrades.
- Tracks and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, safety, and costs. Provide regular updates to senior management and use data to make informed decisions.
