The EHS Specialist will work closely with project managers to develop and maintain site-specific safety documentation, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Health & Safety (H&S) plans, reports, and permits. This role involves developing strategies to ensure adherence to EHS and facilities regulations, acting as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, and leading safety programs and incident management within the region and data center sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Documentation: Collaborate with project managers to create and update site-specific safety documentation, including JHAs, H&S plans, reports, and permits.
- Regulatory Compliance: Develop and implement management strategies to ensure compliance with EHS and facilities regulations and codes. Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and government authorities.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay informed about current safety rules, regulations, and laws. Ensure all projects adhere to company safety policies, client requirements, and regulatory safety laws.
- EHS Procedures: Develop, implement, and enforce EHS procedures across data center sites. Lead the investigation of EHS incidents, develop safety incident reports, and conduct post-incident reviews.
- Safety Training: Oversee the Employee Safety Training Program, including developing and delivering training curricula and evaluating external consultants/trainers as needed.
- Safety Management: Manage various safety aspects such as electrical safety, hazardous energy control (lockout/tagout), occupational noise control, heat stress prevention, exposure assessment, emergency response planning, working at heights, confined space entry, heavy material handling, forklift operations, construction-related risks, fire and life safety, hazardous substances handling, waste management, spill prevention, and third-party safety supplies.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental programs, including air, wastewater, hazardous waste, and stormwater permitting and regulatory requirements.
- Corporate Collaboration: Work closely with the Corporate EHS Team to provide site support and maintain strong relationships.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate and conduct Emergency Response Training and drills with the Site Emergency Response Team.
- Safety Equipment: Specify the procurement and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure adequate protection for onsite personnel.
- Metrics and Reporting: Provide support and deliver performance metrics and results at both the site and corporate levels.
- Ergonomics Programs: In collaboration with Corporate EHS teams, establish and manage comprehensive ergonomics programs.
- Program Leadership: Lead and influence daily EHS programs, including new employee orientation, training, and regulatory record keeping/reporting.
- Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changes in the work environment, shifting priorities, and emerging issues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS roles, with a focus on data center or similar technical environments.
- Understanding of security frameworks (NIST, CSF, CIS, ISO, SOC2 etc
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 29, OSHA 30, ANSI, ASME, NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act, and RCRA requirements.
- Fundamental understanding of FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS), including ICS 100 and NIMS 700 certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of RCRA requirements, with a focus on Small Quantity Generator (SQG) and universal waste protocols.
Salary package includes:
$220,000 - $350,000 base salary (dependent on experience)
