Sr. Electrical Engineer – Controls Engineer

Position Summary:
The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) at the University of Rochester is a distinguished national leader in scientific research and education, specializing in laser applications for fusion and high energy density physics. We are currently seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our Electronics and Controls Engineering group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, assemble, document, test, and troubleshoot custom control systems.
- Utilize PLC programming skills with ladder logic programming.
- Implement fail-safe methods in system design to ensure reliability.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls and automation or equivalent training.
- Proficiency in designing, documenting, and troubleshooting control systems.
- Experience with PLC programming and ladder logic.
- Knowledge of fail-safe methods in system design.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Allen-Bradley or GE/Emerson PLCs.
- Strong documentation skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Curiosity and eagerness to learn new concepts and techniques.
