About the Role:
We are looking for a kind, talented, and driven mechatronics engineer who will be our first full-time engineering hire outside of leadership. We are looking for an individual who is growth-oriented and dedicated to our mission.
While this position is primarily remote, ideally the candidate will reside in Connecticut, or between Philadelphia and Boston, to be able to occasionally access our contract manufacturing facility located in Southbury, CT.
Compensation for this full-time position includes a salary, ranging from $65,000 - $120,000, equity and benefits. Compensation is based on candidate experience, job-specific skills, education, and work location. Our ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of related experience. The role, responsibilities, and compensation grow as we do!

Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, design, and test innovative mechatronic improvements and solutions, including mechanical structures, electronic circuits, and software integration, ensuring they meet design specifications and functional requirements
- Gather and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement to enhance product design and functionality
- Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Evaluate and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability and quality of materials and components
- Work with procurement to source components and materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness
- Collaborate with our contract manufacturer to maintain our production and refurbishment processes, as well as identify and implement improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality output
- Oversee and enhance our quality assurance processes to ensure all systems comply with industry standards and exceed customer expectations
- Collaborates with clients to identify their needs and develops tailored, comprehensive proposals and solutions that address their issues
- Provide timely, first-rate technical support to customers in real-time, addressing their questions and resolving issues to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues reported by customers, offering innovative, effective solutions to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance
- Conduct training sessions for customers and installers to help them understand and effectively use our products, providing step-by-step guidance and best practices
- Coordinate with installers to ensure they fully understand and correctly execute the installation process
- Conduct occasional on-site consultations and provide field support to ensure proper system installation, deliver hands-on guidance, and resolve any technical issues
- Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers, installers, partners, and key stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and building trust through consistent, reliable, and high-quality support
- Maintain detailed records on customer support interactions, budget allocations, R&D activities, and other operational tasks
- Develop and maintain comprehensive, high-quality support documentation, such as FAQs, user manuals, video tutorials, and troubleshooting guides to assist customers and installers
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specific ations, standard operating procedures, and maintenance protocols to ensure consistency
- Foster effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders maintaining clear, concise, and high-quality communication, ensuring alignment and understanding across projects
Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM discipline. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in providing technical leadership and support
- Experience with designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting mechatronic systems and equipment
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. Solidworks) to design complex assemblies and producing professional drawings for manufacturing and assembly
- Experience with electronic circuit design and simulation software (e.g. Altium)
- Programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, and Javascript
- Practical experience and familiarity with common mechanical and electrical tools, such as soldering and machining
- In-depth knowledge of standard manufacturing techniques and processes
- Proficiency with AWS and a solid understanding of databases and SQL
- Experience in creating customer-facing documentation, such as guides and proposals
- Familiarity with standard engineering documentation practices
- Experience in drafting internal technical specifications and reports
- Experience managing inventory, procurement, and ERP systems
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
- Familiarity with the construction industry and an understanding of building envelope fundamentals
