Job Title: Application Architect

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee a detailed architecture for the new system, ensuring it aligns with business goals and integrates smoothly with existing infrastructure.
- Work with various teams to create technical architecture artifacts such as component diagrams, system interactions code standards etc.
- Help design the load files and transmission mechanisms from mainframe to the distributed environments.
- Optimize and tune the new environment to achieve desired performance metrics.
- Design scalable, resilient, and high-performing database solutions using CockroachDB.
- Work with the mainframe team to understand the data model; work with the Cockroach team to come up with an effective physical data model
- Design API’s/services on the distributed platform
- Design and implement a migration roadmap, considering the complexities of legacy systems and the benefits of modern distributed platforms.
- Work with internal teams to develop optimized data migration strategies to transfer massive datasets from Mainframe systems to CockroachDB with data integrity and security.
- Act as the technical lead for the migration project, providing guidance and mentoring to other team members.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in distributed architecture solutions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and operations, to ensure a cohesive migration strategy.
- Ensure that all migration activities adhere to compliance standards and best practices.
- Develop and enforce architectural governance to maintain system integrity during and after the migration.
- Provide support and troubleshooting for any issues that arise post-migration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience with Mainframe systems and migrating them to distributed platforms like Charles River.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with CockroachDB or similar distributed SQL databases.
- Familiarity with Mainframe programming languages (e.g., COBOL, PL/I) and modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#).
- Experience in cloud computing and services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of system integration, data migration tools, and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills.
- Strong leadership abilities and experience managing projects.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
