Job Summary:
Equipment Engineer role established performance parameters for the current and new production equipment. Performs technical analysis to assure the equipment is operating as required – with emphasis on safety, reliability, and efficiency. Creates equipment maintenance tasks and spare parts inventory as part of equipment release. Maintains equipment records and documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures. Leads projects and contributes to equipment, processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental, Health & Safety requirements including being responsible for quality of work, good documentation practices/recordkeeping, good manufacturing practices (GMP) and safety.
- Develop, maintain and update, as appropriate, the production equipment performance and operating parameters.
- Perform technical analysis of the production equipment to assure they are meeting the performance and operating parameters.
- Develop, maintain and evaluate equipment reliability measurements.
- Participate and/or lead equipment improvement teams to develop recommendations.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to determine root cause.
- Recommend repairs and preventative measures to eliminate equipment or system malfunctions or failures.
- Review and recommend improvements to preventative & predictive maintenance tasks to assure they are effective and efficient.
- Review and recommend improvements to production equipment spare parts inventory.
- Participate on new product production equipment teams as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete the necessary tasks to fulfill the assigned equipment release steps.
- Establish processes to maintain the production equipment information including manuals, drawings, work orders, etc. is accurate and up to date.
- Develop and issue results on the individual goals and objectives.
- Submit periodic verbal or written reports as requested.
- Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by their supervisor.
- Keep oneself and team abreast on new technology, materials and software, as it relates to process equipment and associated processes.
- Calibrations performed do not require OJT with Engineer qualifications.
Required Skills and Experience:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related field.
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experience with process equipment in a manufacturing environment. Production equipment maintenance experience a plus.
- Project management experience.
- Able to work independently and lead a small team
- Good organizational and planning skills
