Systems Safety Engineer | EVTOL
In this role you will develop, lead, and maintain system requirements and reliability efforts in collaboration with engineering leads. In this role, you will work seamlessly across various functions, applying your deep understanding of systems engineering to drive the development of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reliability and failure analysis and lead qualification efforts for product launches.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to assess product reliability, using insights to enhance performance and inform the reliability of new products.
- Design and verify system requirements and verification matrices for eVTOL vehicles.
- Manage validation and documentation of system and subsystem-level requirements.
- Oversee requirements traceability and evolution throughout the system development cycle.
- Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide strategic direction.
- Contribute to model development and simulation analysis.
- Review and interpret customer specifications effectively to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
- Influence the development of future products by contributing to the architecture framework used across multiple systems.
- Establish and drive a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) process that integrates continuous learning into functional requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers on compliance analysis, system interface definitions, and associated requirements.
- Ensure any gaps in verification and validation plans are swiftly addressed while keeping the project on schedule.
- Engage with the test team to develop comprehensive verification and validation (V&V) test plans that cover all requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in a systems development environment, including requirements development, FMEA, compliance standards, and V&V test planning.
- 5+ years of combined experience in reliability and systems engineering, or aerospace engineering.
- Proven ability to manage requirements traceability and evolution throughout the system development cycle.
- Experience providing effective weekly status updates on system development progress, including requirements burn down.
- Experience developing system test plans, procedures, and reports, with the ability to review and interpret specifications.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, prioritizing team success over individual interests.
