Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Encryption Engineer /Encryption Subject Matter Expert (SME). As an SME, you will play a crucial role in our organization by providing expert guidance and leadership in all matters related to encryption technologies and practices.
This is a technical design and engineering role. The Data Integrity Staff Security Engineer is an important member of the Data Integrity Services team focused on working with cutting-edge technology to manage the risk of current and emerging threats.
This role is in-line with CVS Health strategic initiatives to protect data and reduce data loss risks. The ideal candidate will have proven success implementing innovated tools and processes in support of data protection requirements.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of encryption algorithms, protocols, and implementations.
- Design and architect secure encryption solutions tailored to meet organizational needs.
- Evaluate and recommend encryption technologies, tools, and frameworks.
- Develop encryption standards, policies, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to teams involved in encryption-related projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate encryption solutions into existing systems and applications.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure the effectiveness and integrity of encryption implementations.
- Stay updated with emerging trends, threats, and developments in encryption and cybersecurity domains.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for technical escalations related to encryption technologies.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- 4+ years of experience working as an Encryption SME or in a similar role.
- 4+ years of experience in encryption algorithms (e.g., AES, RSA), protocols (e.g., TLS/SSL), and key management practices.
- 4+ years of experience in cryptographic libraries, tools, and technologies.
- 4+ years of experience in developing encryption strategies and implementing encryption solutions in enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to encryption (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
- Industry certifications such as SANS, CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
- Experience with cloud-based encryption solutions (e.g., AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault).
- Publications or contributions to the field of cryptography and encryption.
- Ability to manage a high degree of complexity and distill information that provides clear direction.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
