LOCATION: Warren, MA
We are seeking an experienced Director of Quality to join our team. Take the lead in managing the Quality program and organization at the Warren site. This role is dedicated to bolstering the Operations of the business while harnessing the tools of the CIRCOR Operating System to facilitate systemic process enhancements throughout our organization. You will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis. Above all, this position will be instrumental in championing the needs of our Customers and will be a valued member of the Warren Leadership Team.
You Will:
- Learn and comprehend technical aspects of our products.
- Ensure the quality of our solutions, products, and processes.
- Responsible for ownership of CAR (Corrective Action Report) and SIR (Shop Incident Report) systems as well as all non-conforming actions.
- Ensure capability for certification preparation, actively support shop RCCA, implement a solid vendor quality review process, and develop the team as needed.
- Drive transformation projects, including but not limited to inspection process changes, MRB process improvement, revision of quality management system, and ongoing certification to ISO 9001 and / or other QMS standards.
- Support continuous product and process flow; provide necessary NDT Level certification to support all necessary inspections and personnel training, testing and certification.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with key customers.
- Partner with customers as required to assist with problem-solving by determining root causes, implementing effective countermeasures, and follow up.
- Support on-time delivery with timely completion of QA document packages. Train and coach all associates on building Quality into Operations.
- Assist with contract review and flow down of customer requirements.
- Partner with suppliers as required to assist with problem-solving by determining root causes, implementing effective countermeasures, and follow up.
- Build solid relationships with our third party and customer inspectors both to understand their needs and facilitate releases for shipment.
- Assist Operations to reduce the number of customer-reported quality issues (VIR’s, SCAR’s LOA’S) to improve customer-vendor scores.
- Work to simplify processes with easy-to-understand language and allow for flexibility.
- Reorganize team and allocate resources as needed to maintain quality support, eliminate inspection bottlenecks and backlogs, and guarantee quality output to customers.
- Drive transformation of the quality function utilizing your critical skills in change management.
- Effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the business.
- Have a proactive approach to problem solving.
You Have:
Knowledge & Abilities
- A clear understanding of Defense contracts and specifications is a plus. able to work closely with shipyards and DCMA inspectors.
- A clear understanding of FAR clauses and contract requirements is a plus to flow down to maintain all requirements are followed through production and inspection plan.
- Experience with military inspections related to contracts, NDT processes, ISO, and other government technical documents to ensure compliance is a plus.
- Must have leadership ability, capacity for strategic thinking, ability to foster innovation, time management skills, and unquestionable integrity.
- Six Sigma and / or Lean experience, and root cause corrective action training. Formal training in the Toyota Production System/Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Experience as a quality manager in a manufacturing / industrial setting, with a minimum of 3 years leading a team of significant size.
- Experience in quality excellence, ISO Audit & certification, and MIL-I-45208 knowledge.
- Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience heavily preferred. Formalized certifications are a plus.
- Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
- Prefer candidates with direct experience in military / defense contracting industry, or strong capacity and capability for development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
