Job Title: Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager
Position Overview:
The Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Construction, will be based in our client's Utah office. This role is pivotal in overseeing and ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of our industrial construction projects. The HSE Manager will develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, conduct inspections, provide training, and ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards. This position is essential for fostering a safe and compliant work environment and preventing workplace incidents.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all safety aspects of industrial construction projects, ensuring alignment with the client’s Site Specific Safety Program (SSSP) and OSHA regulations.
- Implement, educate, and enforce OSHA safety standards.
- Draft Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Health & Safety Plans (HASP).
- Set up and maintain communication channels and systems for health and safety.
- Investigate and document workplace accidents, injuries, and hazards.
- Record and report incidents.
- Lead and oversee investigations of accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, coordinating with workers' compensation claims as needed.
- Facilitate safety training for subcontractors, craft workers, and employees.
- Organize, lead, and participate in job site safety meetings.
- Conduct daily safety meetings, audits, and inspections.
- Monitor for and address potential hazards and health risks on the job site.
- Perform regular safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Record, update logs, and track equipment and maintenance schedules.
- Guide and influence project teams through effective leadership and management.
- Serve as a resource for project tasks, offering coaching and mentoring.
- Update and maintain the company’s contingency and recovery plans.
- Assess and ensure the safety of materials and equipment used in projects.
- Develop and enforce safe equipment operation procedures.
- Review and revise site-specific safety plans monthly with project teams.
- Monitor subcontractor adherence to disciplinary procedures and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and health program management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, local safety laws, and other relevant regulatory agencies.
- Strong leadership capabilities, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- CPR/First Aid certified.
- Experience with large-scale industrial or civil construction projects.
- Familiarity with PROCORE software.
