Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Robotics Weld Engineer for our St. Louis, MO client. This is a full-time direct hire position with 100% onsite requirement.
The Manufacturing Robotics Weld Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing robotic welding processes within the manufacturing environment. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality, to ensure that robotic welding operations are efficient, cost-effective, and produce high-quality products. The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining robotic welding equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. This position reports to the Plant Production Manager and does not have any direct reports.
The ideal candidate will have experience across a variety of welding methods such as Mig, Tig, spot and flash welding creating tube/tubular products working with stainless steel metals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development: Design, develop, and optimize robotic welding processes for manufacturing applications, including selecting appropriate welding methods, equipment, and materials.
- Programming & Integration: Program and integrate robotic welding systems, including offline programming, simulation, and on-site troubleshooting.
- Process Improvement: Continuously monitor and analyze welding processes to identify opportunities for improvement in terms of quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of robotic welding equipment to minimize downtime and ensure consistent operation.
- Quality Assurance: Work closely with the quality department to establish and maintain weld quality standards, conduct root cause analysis on defects, and implement corrective actions.
- Training & Support: Provide training and technical support to production staff on the operation and maintenance of robotic welding systems.
- Project Management: Lead and manage welding-related projects, including new product introductions, process improvements, and equipment installations.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all robotic welding processes comply with safety regulations and company policies, conducting risk assessments as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of welding processes, equipment settings, maintenance activities, and quality control procedures.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select and procure welding equipment, tools, and consumables.
Qualifications:
- Education: REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in robotic welding engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, ABB, KUKA) and welding software.
- Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Spot Welding) and metallurgy.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of welding standards and specifications (e.g., AWS, ISO).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex welding issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Project Management: Experience managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Certifications: Welding Engineer Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Engineer) is a plus.
Work Environment:
- The role primarily involves working in a manufacturing plant with some exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.
- Occasional travel may be required for vendor visits or equipment installations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in confined spaces as needed.
