Our client is Boston's leading industrial mechanical contractor and provider of mechanical construction solutions including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. They provide in house fabrication.
Mission For Role:
- They are seeking a senior consultant to advise the best path forward (and feasibility) to move their tool room and warehouse (15,000 SQFT) into their existing manufacturing facility (150,000 SQFT).
- You will advise, evaluate and optimize our clients current facility layout plans, throughput, and workflows. You will determine the best use of space in their manufacturing facility to integrate their tool room and warehouse into it.
- Determine best plan of action for alternative moves after assessment.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in facility planning, industrial engineering, and layout design.
Contract Length: 6-12 Months (depending on project)
Pay: Hourly Rate is very flexible depending on candidates experience.
Hybrid Schedule Very Flexible: This position has flexible hours for day shift and core hours.

Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the current layout and workflows of the facility.
- Determine what elements from the warehouse and tool room (15,000 SQFT) can be integrated into the manufacturing facility (150,000 SQFT).
- Evaluate design layouts for: Loading and Receiving, Tooling Area, Assembly Area, Quality Inspection Area, Fabrication (CNC), Dock layout, etc. and track throughput.
- Plan and design potential expansions, including layout and profit analysis.
- Assess the ergonomics and type of layout for optimal space utilization.
- Factor in scheduling, planning and reducing downtime for this transition.
- Utilize REVIT or CAD for design and planning (flexible).
- Focus on ergonomics, workflows, and overall facility planning (excluding electrical/mechanical/plumbing)
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Industrial Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer or Designer particularly in warehouses, fabrication and tool rooms and equipment transfers.
- Proficiency in REVIT or CAD (flexible).
- Strong experience with facility layout, planning design and ability to shift equipment with a schedule that does not effect production.
- Ability to work independently and evaluate complex workflows.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Schedule:
- Hybrid work arrangement with flexibility to work on-site as needed.
- Shop hours: 6am – 2:30pm (flexible). Consultant does not need to work these hours but that is when the shop personnel are available to get a flow of environment.
- Expect the consultant to assess the environment, discuss pressure points, familiarize themselves with the layout.
- On-site work is flexible and determined by consultant and manager.
