Quality Control Specialist - West Chicago, IL
Summary:
The Quality Control Specialist ensures product quality and safety by managing data, overseeing facility sanitation, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies. The role involves identifying non-conformities, conducting investigations, and performing audits to maintain high standards in food safety and quality.
Details:
- Pay rate: $20 - $27/hr Depending on experience (additional shift differential based on selected shift; see below)
- Shifts:
- 2nd shift positions 2:00 pm -10:30 pm Monday - Friday with a rotating Saturday shift additional $0.50/hr for shift
- 3rd shift positions Monday - Friday 10:00pm - 6:30am with a rotating Saturday shift additional $2/hr for shift
- Duration: Direct-hire (permanent position with benefits; see below)
Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter and manage data in company databases.
- Monitor and maintain facility sanitation practices.
- Inspect finished goods, including medical foods and dietary supplements.
- Ensure adherence to GMP guidelines and company policies.
- Identify and manage non-conforming products and materials.
- Report food safety and quality issues to relevant personnel.
- Lead investigations into product non-conformances and customer complaints.
- Perform audits following SQF guidelines.
- Suggest and implement safety and quality improvements.
- Provide training to plant employees as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years in food/beverage quality control.
- Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, SQF, FDA/USDA regulations is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office; bilingual in English and Spanish; strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Office, laboratory, and manufacturing settings with exposure to allergens, noise, and physical hazards.
