At General Galactic our mission is to revolutionize the world’s energy supply chain by making clean fuel affordable and accessible for customers anywhere in the world. We’re a pre-seed stage startup developing Genesis, a modular hardware platform that converts carbon dioxide into 100% renewable, synthetic hydrocarbon fuel, directly compatible with today’s energy and natural gas infrastructure. Job Description
You will work closely with the co-founders and technical team to develop critical hardware for our systems. You’ll have extreme ownership over your work, move quickly, and operate with high agency. As we grow, there will be opportunities to expand your role with the company.
Responsibilities will be tailored to the candidate’s profile and may include:
- Design, build, testing, and operation of novel hardware & fuel generation systems
- Oversee scale-up and integration of first-of-a-kind climate technology projects
- Design of experiments to evaluate system & reactor performance
- Analyze experimental data and provide recommendations for future development
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to design and scale up synthetic hydrocarbon processes based on customer requirements
- Develop custom controls software & instrumentation with Python, LabView, etc.
- Ownership of outcomes and direct contribution to the growth of the company
- Manage a team of engineers and scientists
Requirements
There are no hard and fast qualifications required for working at General Galactic. Our team is made up of top performers from a variety of backgrounds, and we welcome anyone with a passion for chasing global challenges to apply. Some of your skills might include:
- Leadership experience at a startup, university, build team, national lab, or similar
- Knowledge of fluids, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, catalyst synthesis, carbon capture, materials, etc.
- Ability to perform trade studies and technical analyses, and make clear recommendations using first principles even with incomplete or partial information
- Understanding of technical challenges associated with scaling and deploying a commercial hardware solution in the energy space
- Experience with data analysis in MATLAB, Python, or similar
- Experience with lab scale control systems (e.g. LabVIEW or other PLC)
