Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated LAN Refresh Engineer to lead and execute the refresh and upgrade of our Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with network hardware, cabling, and configurations. You will be responsible for assessing the current LAN setup, planning the refresh strategy, and implementing the new solutions while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Planning:
- Evaluate the existing LAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, access points, and cabling.
- Identify obsolete equipment and design a comprehensive LAN refresh plan.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project timelines, scope, and budget.
- Implementation:
- Install, configure, and test new network hardware and cabling.
- Migrate existing configurations to new devices, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
- Implement network segmentation and VLAN configurations as needed.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for equipment procurement and installation.
- Testing and Validation:
- Conduct thorough testing of the refreshed LAN to ensure all systems are operational.
- Perform troubleshooting and resolve any network issues that arise during the refresh.
- Validate network performance and security post-refresh.
- Documentation and Training:
- Document the new network architecture, including device configurations, cabling layouts, and IP schemes.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to the internal IT team for ongoing support.
- Maintain updated records of all network changes and upgrades.
- Support and Troubleshooting:
- Offer post-implementation support to resolve any issues related to the LAN refresh.
- Monitor network performance and suggest improvements or optimizations as necessary.
