We are looking to hire a contract Database Engineer that will oversee the IT department’s IT and Business needs using Azure Data Lake and Local SQL Databases to integrate application data for all business units. They will also be responsible for identifying what platforms and software is best for Client's data/business specific needs and work with the Sr. IT Leadership to determine and acquire software to facilitate e implementation. This role will be the primary lead on all MS SQL databases and integrations. Other responsibilities will include IT project oversight, process improvements, and cross-functional system integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and Translate them into data architecture solutions.
- Design and engineer efficient data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the data lake.
- Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, and ETL processes. To support data integration and transformation.
- Perform data modeling to ensure data is structured and optimized for reporting and analysis.
- Work with existing data architectures and propose enhancements or new architectures as needed to meet evolving data needs.
- Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure data integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with data pipelines, ensuring smooth and reliable data flow.
- Collaborate closely with report writers and BI analysts to provide them with the required data in the data lake.
- Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in data engineering and Azure technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of system design, development, implementation, and user support principles and practices.
- Experience with database management
- Experience with project management principals
- Familiarity with information systems troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field in manufacturing or distribution industries.
- Strong Proficiency in SQL and Azure SQL Server, with hands-on experience in data modeling and schema design.
- Extensive experience with Azure Big Data technologies, including Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure Data Lake.
- Proven ability to design and implement robust data pipelines, ETL processes, and data architectures.
- Experience with data modeling and data quality assurance best practices.
- Experience delivering data mapping and accompanying documentation
- Familiarity with SSRS and Power BI, Python, R is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- SQL or Azure certifications are desirable but not required if the experience is evident.

COMPUTER SKILLS
