Position Purpose & Focus:
The Scheduler provides interpretive data to our clients, (owner or general contractor),that enable the customer to stay on schedule, track resources, manage costs and mitigate delay damages. The position entails face-to-face interaction with customers to present data for both baseline schedules and regular schedule updates. The Senior Scheduler will work hand in hand with the project management team and will support the team with other project controls functions as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support overlapping project tasks, issue management, meeting facilitation, document control and monthly status reporting to the Project Management Team.
- Prepare written communications on technical and non-technical matters for various levels of management.
- Actively communicate with Project Manager, all schedule deviations against plan, risk to project deliverables and provide advice concerning schedule corrections.
- Develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible.
- Prepare baseline schedules and schedule basis documents for approval by project teams.
- Monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in the developing of alternative methods for corrective action.
- Assess impacts to the critical path and near-critical activities to report to the project team.
- Prepare & provide schedule progress reports, trending charts, and schedule analysis periodically.
- Maintain record of scope changes, trends & variances that potentially affect schedule performance.
- Review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate & timely data is incorporated.
- Facilitate project scheduling meetings and/or interactive planning meetings as required.
- Work closely with project Cost Analysts and sub-contractors to ensure accurate reporting.
- Understand scheduling processes by discovering the critical path of a project through the schedule, and ability to read & understand the schedule to define project stages and milestones.
- Organize and track documents throughout the approval process.
- Review & process change orders, assessing impact on contract scope, schedule, and budgets.
- Recognize historical trends and provide predictive forecasting for projects; monitor and modify schedule projections for projects.
- Link change management process with latest estimate schedule by communicating outcomes and making appropriate changes as needed.
- Upon completion of each project, develop and record the project’s historical schedule information and lessons learned.
- Present project trends and forecast schedule performance reports to management, making recommendations on strategies to resolve project issues.
Qualifications and Success Factors:
- Ability to comfortably commute to Auburn offices 1-2x/week.
- Requires experience with the utility sector and compressor stations.
- Expert in Primavera, P6 for schedule creation, update, and management.
- Senior scheduler with 10+ years of experience with some of that experience in portfolio level scheduling in addition to project level scheduling.
- Work with the Planning team on project initiation and build Initial schedules based on the Long Term Planning Process (LTP) and standard project templates
- Work with the Planning team to hand over initiation stage schedules to the project Execution team (Project Manager, Project Management Analyst, and Project Schedule).
- Work with all execution PMs/PMAs on developing new project schedules that are re-occurring work or emergent work.
- Maintain and update changes to the master P6 project templates.
- Understand the Project templates in detail and provide guidance to project schedulers as required.
- Review execution portfolio for accuracy and proper coding.
- QA/QC project level and Program level schedules
- Train new schedulers on project templates, logic, and procedure and occasionally provide coverage for schedulers during vacations.
- Act as a "Bridge" between the initial planning team and the project execution team
- Ability to communicate with the project team, project managers, schedulers, project management analyst, permitting, licensing, and other stakeholders on a required basis.
- Manage P6 Database - assist with maintenance and periodic cleanup of the database.
- Ability to lead scheduling process, procedure and template improvement initiatives to support the supervisor.
- Perform other work as assigned by the Supervisor.
