Job Title: Fortinet Sr. Consultant
Location: Houston, Texas
Duration: 6+ months
Key areas needed:
1. Fortinet Product Knowledge:
· In-depth understanding of FortiGate Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
· Expertise in FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized management and reporting.
· Proficiency with FortiOS, the operating system of FortiGate devices.
· Knowledge of FortiGate's SD-WAN features, including application-based traffic steering, WAN path control, and WAN link load balancing.
2. SD-WAN Architecture and Design:
· Strong grasp of SD-WAN architecture and principles.
· Ability to design scalable and secure SD-WAN solutions using Fortinet products.
· Understanding of WAN optimization techniques and their implementation in SD-WAN.
· Familiarity with various WAN connectivity options like MPLS, broadband, LTE, and VPN.
3. Network Security:
· Expertise in configuring and managing security policies, VPNs (IPsec/SSL), and firewall rules on FortiGate devices.
· Knowledge of advanced security features such as intrusion prevention systems (IPS), application control, web filtering, and antivirus.
4. Routing and Switching:
· Proficiency in dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and their configuration on FortiGate devices.
· Understanding of static routing, policy-based routing, and SD-WAN routing strategies.
5. Advanced Troubleshooting:
· Ability to troubleshoot network and connectivity issues in a complex SD-WAN environment.
· Familiarity with diagnostic tools and methods, including packet capture, log analysis, and FortiView.
6. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
· Experience with monitoring SD-WAN performance and ensuring optimal application delivery.
· Proficiency in using FortiAnalyzer for deep traffic analysis and reporting.
· Understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) and its implementation in SD-WAN environments.
Certifications:
· Fortinet NSE 4 – Network Security Professional (focus on FortiGate devices).
· Fortinet NSE 5 – Network Security Analyst (focus on FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer).
· Fortinet NSE 7 – Network Security Architect (advanced skills in complex security design, including SD-WAN).
· Fortinet NSE 8 – Network Security Expert (high-level certification for network security professionals, with a focus on Fortinet technologies).
Experience:
· Several years of experience working with Fortinet products in a network security role.
· Proven track record in deploying and managing SD-WAN solutions in medium to large-scale environments.
Experience with other network vendors' SD-WAN solutions is a plus (e.g., Cisco, VMware, Palo Alto).
