Our client is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with advanced firewall knowledge to join their growing, fast-paced company. Our client is located near the San Antonio area and meets onsite 5 days a week.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years experience in managing firewalls and network switches (Palo Alto Networks and Barracuda Firewalls)
- Expertise upgrading networking equipment and maintaining backups
- Experience reviewing firewall traffic logs
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and Bash
- Familiarity with network architecture and design best practices
- Familiarity with SNMP, DNS, NTP, TLS/SSL
STRONGLY PREFERRED
- Expertise in configuring Palo Alto Networks and Barracuda Firewalls, VPNs
- Experience with DevOps and Software Risk Evaluation (SRE) methodologies
- Configuration experience with Cisco IOS and NX-OS, vPC (virtual Port Channels)
- Familiarity with network monitoring software such as Splunk, Nagios, or SolarWinds
- Demonstrated track record meeting and exceeding SLA requirements.
- Any of the following certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Palo Alto Networks PCNSA and PCNSE
- Bachelor's degree preferred and would consider experience in leu of a degree
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, support, and design network infrastructures in a data center and corporate environments.
- Manage network firewall and switch equipment, including racking, stacking, and cabling.
- Troubleshoot network, firewall, and infrastructure issues, assist Support Engineers in troubleshooting issues.
- Maintain firewall and switch configurations, and update firewall and switch operating systems.
- Analyze service stack and make recommendations for further improvements.
- The ability to design and implement network infrastructure while considering: availability, scalability, and security with relation to SLA requirements.
- Identify processes and capabilities that can be streamlined and automated.
- Communicate effectively to help bridge stakeholder and development requirements.
- Work directly in production-level environments in a fast-paced, results-oriented organization with a rapid time to market.
