Junior Buyer/Expeditor:
A junior buyer's job is to help a company with purchasing decisions and processes. They are involved in many stages of the process of getting merchandise to consumers, and their responsibilities can vary depending on the industry:
- Inventory management: Keep track of inventory levels and ensure products are available at competitive prices
- Supplier management: Evaluate supplier performance and maintain records of current and potential suppliers
- Purchase orders: Write purchase orders and oversee the progress of shipments
- Administrative tasks: Arrange shipping costs and support senior buyers with purchase orders
Key responsibilities, experience
- Send open-order reports to suppliers
- Contact suppliers on regular basis with prioritized items
- Analyze MRP requirements versus purchase orders
- Determine manufacturing constraints and resolve due date issues on parts
- Facilitate materials receipts to support linear shipments to customers throughout month
- Report findings to Materials Management
