QA SUPERVISOR OPENING WITH A MEDIUM SIZE FOOD MANUFACTURING PLANT IN HARTWELL GA. LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH STRONG GMP'S & A STRONG EMPHASIS ON MAINTAINING HACCP PROGRAMS. PREFER CANDIDATES OUT OF FOOD MANUFACTURING. SALARY RANGE IS 70K-75K. GREAT COMPANY TO WORK FOR WITH GROWTH POTENTIAL.
JOB SUMMARY Assures consistent quality of production for plant by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practices (GMP) systems; validating processes, and providing documentation. In partnership with the Plant Manager and Corporate EHS Manager, this position is also responsible for coordinating, supporting and execution of Safety and Environmental activities, initiatives and programs by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures
• Maintain and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop manufacturing and training methods
• Analyze and prepare responses to customer requests, including but not limited to; audits, quality statement and new specifications
• Update and maintain HACCP programs and lead scheduled HACCP team meetings
• Responsible for calibration and updating of in house analytical testing equipment and communication with equipment vendors regarding technical issues and updates
• Responsible for developing and maintaining a Food Safety/Defense Program which complies with USDA/FDA objectives including Food Safety Modernization Act
• Complete Certificate of Analysis (COA) forms
• In consultation with VP Operations, oversee contact to USDA-APHIS, USDA-FSIS, State Department of Agriculture, and FDA
• Coordinate group QA initiatives with other QA Managers
• Conduct safety and environmental audits and inspections on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis to ensure compliance and safe conditions in the plant.
• Organize and file safety and environmental records in the plant file system.
• Coordinate safety and quality training based on the training schedule and plant requirements.
• Administer the PPE programs for safety boots, hardhats, hearing protection, LOTO, etc.
• Lead a plant safety committee.
• Works with leads, supervisors and plant management to ensure the accident reporting and investigation process is completed.
• Conduct area assessments, task evaluation, and job rotation audits.
• Coordinate and support annual OSHA required activities (e.g. evacuation drills, respirator training, hearing testing, etc.)
• Observe and immediately correct (or recommend a course of action) rotine safety infractions as noticed in the plant.
• Track, maintain and promote the plant specific Safety Gap Analysis including progress and corrective actions.
• In consultation with Plant Manager, responsible for ensuring plant operates in compliance with all laws and regulations
• Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality and safety/environmental management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and wearing of all required safety gear (PPE)
• Adhere, support, and enforce all company policies and procedures
• Complies with attendance guidelines of the company.
• Comply with all food safety/quality related programs and procedures accordingly to support GFSI and regulatory standards.
MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Manage customer and regulatory audits; develop corrective action plans in cooperation with Plant Managers
• Ensure suppliers comply with regulations as it relates to SRM policies, EV/BV Programs as it relates to our business. Verify correct language on labeling, bills, etc.
• Develop written set of raw material specifications with photos to be used for suppliers and internally for training purposes
• Develop written training manual to be used to train production employees and conduct training
• In consultation with VP Operations and Plant Managers, responsible for traceability of products and developing a written Product Recall Plan
• Prepare quarterly quality reports
• Participate in job and safety training offered and required by the Company
• Maintain good housekeeping of work areas
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
SKILLS ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES • Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel)

INDUSTRY TECHNICAL AND WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE • Experience in a QA or QC role
• Experience in the meat processing industry is desired but not required
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION • Valid driver’s license
ACADEMIC • H.S. education or GED with at least (1-3) years experience or equivalent education and/or experience
