Staff Engineer BMS, Power Electronics

The Role
Designing Our Next-Generation BMS:
- Take full ownership of BMS hardware, including proposing features, defining specifications, selecting components, designing hardware, and validating the system end-to-end.
Electrical Design and Improvement:
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement and development of BMS for electric vehicles.
Leading Troubleshooting Efforts:
- Identify and resolve field issues, ensuring flawless product operation.
Integration Expertise:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in powertrain and vehicle-level integrations, from prototype to production.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with mechanical design, manufacturing, software engineering, and supply chain teams to streamline the product’s journey to mass production.
Safety-Critical Development:
- Be part of a team that creates advanced and safety-critical electronic products that push the boundaries of innovation.
Qualifications
Electronics Expertise:
- Strong background in electronics components and circuits.
Mixed Signal Proficiency:
- Experience in developing mixed-signal circuits for high-speed, high-resolution applications.
BMS Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with BMS or similar safety-critical products.
Technical Tools:
- Proficiency in schematic capture tools, with experience in worst-case analysis and DFMEA.
PCB Layout Mastery:
- Expert knowledge of PCB layout best practices for high voltage applications, including SI/PI improvements, noise immunity, and EMI mitigation strategies.
Hands-On Skills:
- Practical experience in debugging various electronic components, such as MCUs, OpAmps, AD/DA converters, SMPS, and communication circuits.
Test Equipment:
- Comfortable with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, probes, and power analyzers.
Circuit Simulation:
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools for OpAmp circuits, SMPS, and transient analysis.
Safety Expertise:
- Expert knowledge of BMS functional safety requirements.
Advantageous
- Previous work experience in the automotive industry.
- Previous involvement in BMS, Inverters, On-board chargers, or other powertrain products.
- A working knowledge of Power Electronics and experience in switch-mode power supply (SMPS) design.
Education
- Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering required
