Amotec is currently supporting a search for a Director of Manufacturing Engineering. Located near Sturbridge, MA, our client is a leading industrial manufacturing company serving the defense industry. Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing, the Director of Manufacturing Engineering will lead a total transformation of the existing Engineering program and create robust best practices. This person will manage and develop a team of manufacturing engineers and CNC programmers, along with overseeing the development and refinement of manufacturing processes. Your mission will be to explore and implement cutting-edge technologies, streamline operations, and enhance product manufacturability.
Director of Manufacturing Engineering Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a dynamic team, ensuring they are equipped to meet project demands and continuously improve their skills.
- Drive enhancements in manufacturing processes through careful review and implementation of new technologies, equipment, and procedures.
- Oversee engineering projects, from developing detailed process plans to ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Work closely with design engineers to improve product design for manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
- Optimize services provided by suppliers and vendors to support manufacturing goals.
- Focus on process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity improvements across the manufacturing landscape.
Director of Manufacturing Engineering Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years in engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing, with experience in government contracts.
- Proven project management abilities, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a strong background in lean manufacturing practices.
