Primary Function:
Project and Process Engineering. Predominantly Salisbury, NC based but also supports High Point, NC and Americas Regional Engineering efforts. Actively supports the promotion of, and engage in, Project/Process Engineering and workplace SHE, especially with respect to Major Accident Hazards and Basis of Safety areas.
For Assigned Projects:
- Responsible for capital project contract personnel: on site & pre-planning stages to ensure successful completion of projects without any injuries to personnel, loss of containments or damage to the environment.
- Site Project Lead Engineer on Process Engineering design process from concept thru commissioning including (but not limited to): P&ID development, PFD’s, equipment layouts, HAZOPs, instrument specification, Trip & Alarm assessments, heat & mass balances, equipment selection & bidding/costing, liaison with 3rd party equipment suppliers, and undertaking trials.
- Commissioning and optimization of equipment and processes.
- Responsible for Project Engineering including scope definition, cost estimation and input into project plans and subsequent cost control.
- Support for line management trouble shooting as needed. Source of advice to all levels of site personnel on process issues.
- Responsible for identifying, designing, and delivering process improvement projects.
- Responsible for supporting the delivery of plant modifications and capital expansion projects. This includes Site input into the design stages and responsibility for commissioning and start-up together with subsequent improvements.
- Support line management in the development and upkeep of plant and safety systems, in particular Operating Procedures and Maintenance Procedures, for both existing and newly installed equipment.
- Input into development and delivery of the NC Capex
Requirements:
- B.S. Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- 10 years in the Chemical industry or similar, ideally within a Plant Engineering role or Design Engineering with relevant discipline.
- Awareness of all relevant OSHA & EPA regulations, especially with respect to PSM and RMP. Awareness and experience in Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
- Knowledge of PLC/DCS programming a plus.
- Practical, can-do approach coupled with strong technical knowledge. Hands on approach – capable of delivering work themselves as well as through others.
- Proven experience in chemical plant process engineering both from an office and on the plant. Comfortable with handling detail and rigor.
