Our client is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work on our Semi Truck mass production facility, ground-up Engineering-Procurement-Construction project that requires exceptional talent. The product portfolio is expanding with never-built-before production lines, and requirements demand cell production volume at a scale which was once thought to be impossible to reach. In this role, you will be asked to be the primary structural engineering lead for the design and engineering efforts to support construction of infrastructure development, from concept level to production.
Job duties
- Lead all structural design concept evaluations and decisions, leading to completion of construction drawings for permit and construction execution
- Manage multiple projects throughout the planning, design, bid, and construction phases from new projects and renovations to existing industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
- Drive support staff, internal and 3rd party engineers including mentoring less experienced engineering staff
- Coordinate structural design on multidiscipline project teams including Mechanical, Electrical, Piping/Plumbing (MEP) professionals
- Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgment
- Effectively and proactively communicate project needs, changes, and status to internal and external team members
- Present design concepts and progress at project milestones (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC) design reviews to stakeholders and multi-discipline teams
- Able to develop quantity take-offs and assist with cost estimating for projects in short time frames including planning estimates with limited scoping information
- Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards.
- Perform construction administration tasks including review and coordination of RFIs, RFPs, submittal logs, bids, shop drawings, etc. Interact with contractors, fabricators, stakeholders and consultant teams.
Skillset
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in structural design of commercial, industrial, or oil & gas industries
- Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) with active NCEES record and ability to acquire State PE license for Nevada
- Familiarity with Revit Structural and experienced with Navisworks
- Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented and technical, yet experienced enough to see the big picture
- Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines
- Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion
- Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
