Settlement Analyst
Hybrid – Chicago, IL (On-site 2 days a week)
5-month contract with possible extension and/or conversion
Summary:
As a TBA Settlements Analyst, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of TBA (To-Be-Announced) trades. Your role will involve close collaboration with trading, operations, and risk management teams to monitor settlement processes, resolve discrepancies, and improve operational efficiency. A strong understanding of TBA markets and settlement procedures is essential for this role.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in trade settlements, preferably with a focus on TBA or fixed-income securities.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of TBA markets, mortgage-backed securities (MBS), and related settlement procedures.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in settlement systems and trading platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or relevant industry certifications are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Experience with ICI, Broadridge, Impact
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to trade settlements and experience in process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Trade Settlement: Oversee the settlement process for TBA trades, ensuring all trades are settled accurately and on time.
- Reconciliation: Conduct daily reconciliation of trade positions, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Communication: Liaise with trading desks, counterparties, clearinghouses, and custodians to resolve settlement issues and discrepancies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all settlement activities and ensure proper documentation is in place for audit and compliance purposes.
- Risk Management: Monitor and mitigate settlement risks by ensuring all processes comply with regulatory and internal policies.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in the settlement process and work with relevant teams to implement improvements.
- Reporting: Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly settlement reports to stakeholders.
