Summary:
Responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and motivating teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering projects on time and on brief. The Senior Project Manager may be responsible for managing several concurrent high-visibility projects at a time in a fast-paced environment across multiple disciplines – typically partnering with Creative, Planning, Account Management, and Production.
Role overview:
- At a client/business level, managing projects consisting of multiple interdisciplinary teams and often requiring integration with other parties. Using good judgment and skill to develop solutions suitable to achieve project goals within designated project constraints.
- At a team level, playing a consultative role to place the appropriate people and process - advising and implementing as needed, to optimize the efficiency of the project team.
- At an agency level, championing best practices and supporting the Director of Project Management in implementing process improvements.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Management – Define project schedules and resourcing while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects.
- Integrated Creative Development Leadership – Use project management excellence to drive cross-agency creative development process through on-time and feasible delivery; including brief development, creative resourcing, management of integrated creative presentations, and oversight of creative handoff to production.
- Creative Team Building and Management – Assist in Creative team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentor and develop team members. Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.
- Process Implementation and Improvement – Manage and reinforce a well-defined, integrated project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to ensure best practices.
- Intra-Department Management and Mentorship – When PM department hierarchy allows, manage Junior to Mid-Level Project Manager direct reports; conduct regular 1:1s, provide mentorship and oversight, deliver annual performance reviews, receive and deliver constructive feedback.
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of creative project life cycles
- An understanding of project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit the differing needs of projects.
- Experience overseeing multi-functional project teams
- 4-5 year's experience, advertising agency experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, and Adobe Workfront preferred
