Position Overview:
Join our EPC client as a Contract Senior Electrical Engineer and play a pivotal role in the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for new and existing oil and gas facilities. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects, including power plants and other industrial facilities, while maintaining the flexibility of contract work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary project team to design, modify, and analyze electrical systems for oil and gas facilities.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Tackle complex electrical engineering challenges by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
- Project Support: Assist the project lead in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Design Coordination: Ensure that system designs meet specifications, codes, and client requirements by coordinating design activities with installation and operations teams.
- Calculations & Studies: Prepare and review detailed electrical calculations, such as three-phase power transient studies, voltage drop, and protective relay settings.
- Documentation: Create design inputs for drawing production and interface with vendors to develop material and equipment specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct independent reviews of engineering work, including calculations and drawings, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance to less experienced engineers, supporting their professional development.
Qualifications:
- Texas PE license
- Educational Background: BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program required; MSEE preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in power plant or industrial plant design, with a focus on detailed system design for new facilities or modifications for existing facilities in the oil and gas industry.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with available equipment and pre-engineered systems for executing system designs.
