Job Overview: Synechron is in search of a Security Engineer with robust experience in cyber security, endpoint protection, identity and access management with predominant exposure to the Microsoft stack. In this role you will help our clients to improve the security of their Azure-based infrastructure and hosted Windows VMs, including hardening identity systems and endpoints.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage security measures for Microsoft environments, including Windows, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
- Develop policies and controls for Information Technology practices.
- Oversee identity and access management, including Entra ID, SSO technologies and federated identities.
- Implement and manage security solutions for endpoint protection, application access, data encryption, and network security.
- Perform security assessments and compliance audits, recommending improvements.
- Implement monitoring and event capture to identify security breaches and document processes for forensic analysis and recovery.
- Educate client staff on security best practices and policies.
- Stay abreast of the latest in security best practices, frameworks, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a security-focused role within a Microsoft environment.
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect
- Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate
- Experience with Microsoft security and identity services, Windows security, and Azure security controls.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoints, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Entra ID, InTune, and Azure Sentinel.
- Strong understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security.
- Experience with security incident response and forensic analysis tools.
- Good knowledge of networking technologies, environment segregation and security perimeters – emphasizing defense in depth.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell for automation of security configuration and tasks.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in Financial Services or other heavily regulated industries
- Familiarity with development best practices (agile methodologies, version control, CI/CD, automated testing)
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and information security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS-CSC)
- IT Security qualifications such as:
- CompTIA Security+
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
