The Director of Engineering/Maintenance manages the maintenance of all hotel/resort facilities, equipment, systems, and landscaping. Key duties include workforce management, preventative maintenance, capital improvements, budget oversight, and compliance with safety procedures. Strong leadership, multitasking, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of department personnel while optimizing manpower to efficiently manage workload and conducting timely performance appraisals.
- Assign and ensure completion of maintenance tasks for the resort’s physical structure and systems, inspecting work quality and guiding staff and contractors.
- Perform walk-throughs to assess maintenance of structures, systems, and equipment, while managing inventory of parts, supplies, tools, and materials.
- Enforce hotel/resort and company policies, resolve guest and team member issues, and respond to emergency situations.
- Maintain departmental files, conduct monthly meetings, and participate in executive committee and weekly staff meetings.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, codes, and regulations, ensuring employee certifications are up-to-date.
- Manage subcontract work, analyze bids, and negotiate and manage agreements and contracts.
- Liaise with governmental agencies, manage compliance with permits and inspections, and develop and operate within the annual budget, providing budget analysis.
- Maintain an efficient inventory and purchasing system and ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of the facility and equipment.
- Participate in or manage the property's safety committee.
Requirements:
- Experience in facilities management of related properties.
- Proven track record in managing workforce and preventative maintenance for public areas, guestrooms, and physical plant.
- Skilled in organizing and maintaining maintenance tracking and work order systems.
- Proficient with current BAS and EMS technologies.
- Experience managing hospitality capital improvement projects and FF&E maintenance.
- Skilled in code compliance and contract negotiations.
- Ability to work independently, handle high-stress environments, and make decisions in challenging situations.
- Proficient in inventory practices, budget formatting, and financial reporting.
- Adaptable, flexible, and able to multi-task while remaining calm under stress.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of handling conflict and confrontations, and diffusing volatile situations.
Salary Expectations: $150-185K
