Job Description:
As a Director of Mechanical & Plumbing Engineering at 120 Degreez, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to our MEP engineering department. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in MEP engineering, project management, and team leadership. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of our MEP engineering practice, driving innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the MEP engineering department, setting goals, objectives, and priorities to align with the firm’s overall mission and strategic plan.
- Lead the development and implementation of best practices, standards, and procedures for MEP engineering design, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality across all projects.
- Oversee the management of MEP engineering projects from initiation to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and client communication.
- Collaborate with senior management, project managers, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion of our MEP engineering services.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence within the MEP engineering team, promoting professional development and mentorship opportunities for staff.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on complex MEP engineering challenges, serving as a subject matter expert and resource for staff and clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, contractors, and other key stakeholders to enhance collaboration and ensure client satisfaction.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to MEP engineering, and integrate this knowledge into our project delivery processes.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and professional associations to promote our expertise and thought leadership in MEP engineering.
- Other duties as determined by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Plumbing Engineering from an accredited institution, or in a related field is highly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in MEP engineering, including significant experience in project management and leadership roles.
- PE license required.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing MEP engineering teams and projects of varying size and complexity.
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering software tools for design and drafting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Thorough understanding of California building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to MEP systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Deep technical knowledge of MEP engineering principles, practices, and systems, with a focus on sustainable design and energy efficiency.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn and grow professionally in the field of MEP engineering.
