Position Overview:
The QA Automation Engineer II is a mid-level professional responsible for designing, developing, and executing software test plans to identify software problems and their causes. This role involves a deeper level of technical expertise, including the development of automated test frameworks, conducting complex tests, and leading quality assurance processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software QA methodologies, tools, and processes and can work independently on various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that systems and software behave as expected and meet customer requirements.
- Develop and execute automated tests to streamline the testing process.
- Evaluate product code according to specifications.
- Create logs to document testing phases and defects.
- Report bugs and errors to development teams and assist in troubleshooting issues.
- Conduct post-release/post-implementation testing.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and assist in the development of new testing tools and protocols.
- Continuously improve the existing QA processes and frameworks to enhance test efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software QA, with a proven track record of developing automated tests and executing comprehensive test plans.
- Experience with Playwright is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Solid understanding of SQL and scripting.
- Experience with performance and/or security testing.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to understand and debug code from a quality perspective.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C# for test automation.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Experience with Playwright is highly preferred.
Bonus Points:
- Agile experience
- Experience with running and analyzing results of automated tests
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related area of study.
