Overview:
We are seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of IBM DB2 on the z/OS platform, with experience in managing and optimizing large-scale database environments. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain DB2 databases on z/OS.
- Perform database tuning, performance monitoring, and optimization.
- Manage database security, including user permissions and access control.
- Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Database Maintenance:
- Conduct regular database backups, restorations, and disaster recovery drills.
- Monitor and manage database growth and storage requirements.
- Ensure database integrity and availability through regular maintenance activities.
- Apply patches and upgrades to DB2 z/OS as needed.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization.
- Work with development teams to design efficient database schemas and indexes.
- Implement performance monitoring tools and techniques to proactively identify issues.
- Incident Management:
- Respond to and resolve database-related incidents and issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database connectivity and performance problems.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies regarding data security and privacy.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support application development and deployment.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and other team members.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum of [X] years of experience as a DB2 z/OS DBA.
- Strong experience with DB2 utilities, tools, and performance tuning on z/OS.
- Proven experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
