Working Hours: Monday - Friday evening hours to support production, flexibility available to support production needs
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage, lead and implement controls and improvements across the paint-focused value streams of the paint manufacturing cell and light gauge coil coating lines, supporting exceptional safety, environmental and production standards. Coach, train and document best practices, through continuous improvement efforts, that will allow the company to provide superior quality products and services to our internal and external customers.
- Leads by example each day in key areas – EHS, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and attendance
- Assigns employees to specific tasks on the production line, ensures clear understanding of task expectations in quality, EHS and productivity
- Provides feedback in the form of counseling and recognition for positive performance and development opportunities
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules daily
- Identifies future staffing/equipment needs for the budgeting process
- Works with other supervisors or group leaders to rotate employees as necessary to meet production needs
- Provides leadership in sustaining defined processes and resolving issues
- Maintains time and production records daily
- Ensures the overall integrity of work produced by the line
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department
- Prepares and presents communications to production employees and other members of management regarding daily expectations for production, quality, EHS, housekeeping and other key measures as well as general information required to keep all employees informed
- Maintains the overall safety of employees in the assigned work area by reporting all hazards/issues, leading, and participating in EHS incident investigations and follow-up, ergonomic and hazard assessments etc.
- Provides corrective action to address attendance, conduct, or performance issues with production employees, to include conducting investigations, providing documentation, and recommending further courses of action to other members of management as necessary
- Assesses individual training needs, including cross-training and job rotation plans of production employees and works with group leader to provide needed on-the-job training and coaching. Where necessary, the supervisor may also provide hands-on process instruction and new employee orientation
- Identify staffing needs, interview, and recommend employee selection document in a timely manner
- Excellent attendance and promptness are critical
- Wears required safety equipment including but not limited to, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear

QUALICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills combined with the ability to educate and train non-degreed operators and technicians in a production environment
- Ability to play a true team member role with other key plant leadership members
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor and train associates on a regular basis
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills
- A highly skilled and motivated individual proficient in all areas of manufacturing operations
- Possesses a high degree of current quality standards and checks
- Proficient in STOP and 5S principles
- Upper level mathematical and mechanical skills required
- Knowledge of work orders, schedules and priorities and ability to carry out tasks
- Bilingual - English/Spanish skills a plus
- Walks and stands up to 12 hours
- Frequently bends, squats, climbs, kneels, twists, push, pull and reach
- May use a forklift or other lifting/transporting devices
