Overview:
As a key team member, you'll ensure that all products meet consistent standards. This role involves developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting products at various production stages, and documenting findings to ensure necessary actions are taken.
Responsibilities:
- Produce and provide quality-related documents to the manufacturing floor, including control plans, visual aids, and work instructions.
- Monitor production processes to ensure conformance with control plans and customer requirements, including fit, function, reliability, durability, and appearance criteria.
- Support the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), ensuring all elements meet customer requirements.
- Conduct capability studies on new or existing jobs to identify process improvements.
- Review and understand production work instructions from a quality perspective.
- Ensure production processes match work instructions, identifying and addressing any gaps.
- Perform incoming receiving inspections to verify that parts meet drawings and quality expectations, with varying inspection levels based on materials.
- Validate that produced parts, labels, and packaging adhere to work orders and customer criteria.
- Conduct hourly check-ins at workstations to ensure adherence to work instructions and quality standards.
- Analyze and report findings to supervisors, providing suggestions for quality improvements.
- Other duties as assigned, including lifting up to 35 lbs.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required; a college degree is preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in a quality-related role, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 & ISO14001 standards.
- Experience in conducting and/or participating in audits (customer, ISO, etc.).
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) and experience in process optimization.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to foster relationships and drive consensus.
- Problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
- Attention to detail, capable of identifying trends, patterns, and outliers in data.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience in root cause analysis, disciplined problem-solving, and decision-making processes.
- Project management skills, including prioritization, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple projects.
- Time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
