TESP is an operating unit of Teledyne Technologies. TESP is located in Chatsworth, California, and has been manufacturing products since 1986.
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of the core engineering team and will be responsible for mechanical design, modeling, creating/tracking engineering and production drawings and supporting all document control needs at Teledyne Electronic Safety Products aerospace programs located in Chatsworth, CA
The position is estimated to be 70% management of drawings / drawing changes / program data items and 30% mechanical design engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Designs and develops component and assemblies using 2D and 3D solid modeling software for electrical and mechanical system assemblies.
- Support and work closely with the production and planning departments to minimize delays and downtime by tracking and releasing production flow travelers, engineering change orders, assembly instructions/drawings and other critical documentation and processes.
- Work with a multi-faceted team of Electrical and Software engineers to analyze and develop robust solutions that fulfill customer and program requirements.
- Collaborate and contribute to the system design and component selection to ensure the best possible solution.
- Processing & release of drawings / support of drawing filing and storage.
- Must be able to read and interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, sketches, notes and verbal direction.
- Prepares and analyses detailed mechanical tolerance analysis.
- Participates in brainstorm sessions to help offer new ideas, solutions.
- Works with suppliers to clarify engineering drawing issues.
- Analyzes historical part drawings during engineering investigations.
- Prepares engineering red lines and change requests.
- Provides sustaining engineering support for legacy product lines.
- Works with manufacturing department when developing new tooling.
- Supports internal/external design reviews.
- Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision and guidance.
Qualifications:
- BSME or equivalent with solid modeling skills.
- Minimum 3-5 years directly related experience (preferably in A&D)
- Good analytical and time management skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Be able to use MS Office; AutoCad; Creo; SolidWorks; Visio.
- Experience with DOD design / drawing requirements
