Job Description:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I & II provides routine facility and equipment maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), monitors and operates the HVAC systems. The FMT is responsible for the ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other installed systems including fire and security alarms. This role requires day-to-day coordination of building maintenance (reactive and preventive).
Essential Responsibilities include:
1. Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, repair, install, replace, and service various types of facility equipment and systems to include: Mechanical, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, equipment operator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith.
2. Maintain process water and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data.
3. Maintain electrical distribution and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data.
4. Maintain compressed air systems and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data.
5. Operate and maintain boilers and associated equipment, and piping systems, including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data.
6. Assists in maintaining WFI water treatment, storage and distribution system.
7. Perform routine checks and inspections to ensure that all systems are functioning properly.
8. Evaluate equipment breakdown and conduct mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
9. Order and maintain replacement and spare parts for the facility and equipment.
10. Maintains thorough knowledge of GMP, SOP and FDA requirements.
11. Performs snow removal as required.
12. Documents facilities maintenance requirements; creates and maintains appropriate records of work performed in the computerized maintenance management system.
13. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of resources.
14. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
15. Interacts with manufacturers, vendors, and operations to resolve issues and concerns.
16. Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as necessary to complete tasks and assignments.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
18. Respond to emergency facility repair needs promptly and effectively.
19. Contribute to the improvement plans for facility maintenance projects.
20. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment in all areas of the building related to utility rooms, pump rooms, electrical areas, and equipment mezzanines.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to work nights and weekends.
· Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
· Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
· Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
· Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment.
· Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
· Pays attention to detail; work is accurate and meets all standards and requirements.
Technician I:
· 0-3 Years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a campus environment, plant facility, or related industry (preferably pharmaceutical).
· Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Technician II:
· 3-5 Years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a campus environment, plant facility, or related industry (preferably pharmaceutical).
· Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Compensation:
· Technician I: This position pays $26.15 - $35.36, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion and annual raises.
· Technician II: This position pays $29.00 - $39.30, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth, promotion, and annual raises.
