Job Description:
We are looking for a highly-skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented Senior Civil Engineer to lead, deliver, and perform quality control on a variety of projects. Your role will involve technical design and multidisciplinary coordination, requiring strong leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of mid-level and junior engineers.
- Design grading and drainage plans associated with civil engineering construction projects, including sediment and erosion control plans to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis and site safety is accomplished.
- Develop Maintenance and Protection of Traffic control plans using MUTCD and state guidelines.
- Perform highway design, including development of alignments and roadway profiles.
- Design of utility systems including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station design, water, gas, telephone service, etc., including the determination and resolution of vertical and horizontal utility conflicts that may exist.
- Prepare and/or review stormwater management calculations, including detention basin design, inlet and pipe capacities, profiles, etc.
- Manage projects efficiently to ensure timely completion within budget.
- Coordinate design work with in-house staff and other professionals, including Geotechnical, Architectural, and MEP disciplines.
- Client communication and collaboration to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Attend site visits and field inspections as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- P.E. License in New York State.
- Minimum 6-10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering.
- Proficiency in computer analysis and industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Utility Design, EPANET, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation) and experience in the Computational Design field.
- Strong knowledge of design guidelines and codes (ASCE, MUTCD, AASHTO Highway Design Manual, NYC BC, NYSDEC BB, etc.).
- Knowledge in SWPPP preparation and inspection procedures using state and local guidelines.
- Leadership skills and client-focused, service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
